What is Eid Al Adha?
Eid Al Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the holiest occasions in Islam. The festival commemorates the devotion and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who was willing to sacrifice his son as an act of faith and submission to Allah.
The occasion coincides with the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where millions of Muslims gather to perform one of the five pillars of Islam.
Across the UAE, Eid Al Adha is celebrated with:
- Eid prayers
- Family gatherings
- Charity and donations
- Community celebrations
- Traditional meals and festivities
UAE Labour Law and Public Holidays
Under UAE labour regulations, official public holidays announced by MOHRE are considered paid holidays for private sector employees. Companies and employers across the UAE are required to follow the official holiday circular issued by the ministry.
The UAE government continues to maintain unified public holiday policies that support work-life balance and ensure alignment between public and private sector holiday schedules.
